REPORTS SENT BACK FOR REVISION
COST EVERYONE TIME

Every report your supervisor kicks back means more revision time for you and more review time for them. Fix it before it ever leaves your desk.

📋

Missing Legal Elements

A report with missing statutory elements gets sent back by your supervisor before it goes anywhere. Catching it yourself saves everyone time and protects the case.

⚖️

Weak Probable Cause Language

Vague or subjective narratives undermine PC determinations. What you meant and what you wrote are not always the same — and your supervisor will notice.

🎯

Errors That Become Defense Ammunition

Grammar mistakes, inconsistent timelines, and opinion-based language give defense attorneys exactly what they need to attack your credibility on the stand.

FROM THE OFFICER
WHO NEEDED IT MOST

Report writing is one of the most important skills in law enforcement and one of the least supported. The academy emphasizes it. The job does not always make it easy. In small departments and solo shifts, there is not always a supervisor available to review a report before it gets submitted. Reports get returned. Cases get complicated. And officers who are already stretched thin have to start over.

Report Shield was built by an active law enforcement officer who lived that problem firsthand. The goal was simple: create a tool that does in one place what officers actually need during a shift, without requiring a department budget, a tech background, or a perfect memory for grammar rules.

Security was non-negotiable from day one. Officers have legitimate reasons to be cautious about AI tools. Report Shield was designed around that concern. Your report text is not stored in any Report Shield database. It is processed and returned to your browser only. Standard infrastructure logs maintained by our hosting and AI providers may retain request metadata for limited periods — see our Privacy Policy for full details.

Built to be affordable. Built to be simple enough for the rookie and the veteran alike. Built by someone who has sat in the same seat.

"I can't change the world of policing single handedly, but I can try to make it easier for the ones interested."

BUILT TO PROTECT
WHAT YOU WRITE

Law enforcement report content is sensitive. Report Shield was built from the ground up with security as a non-negotiable.

Report Shield does not profile individuals, predict crime, or monitor anyone. The AI evaluates one thing only: the legal sufficiency, objectivity, and documentation quality of what the officer already wrote. No demographic data, no suspect characteristics, and no surveillance data of any kind enters the analysis. This is a report review tool — nothing more.

🔒
Zero Report Retention
Report text is processed in real time and never written to any database, log, or file. When your session ends, it's gone permanently. We cannot retrieve it.
🔐
MFA on Every Login
Multi-factor authentication is mandatory for all accounts. Even if a password is compromised, no one gets in without the second factor.
Session Security
Sessions expire after 60 minutes of inactivity. Closing the browser clears the session completely — reopening requires a full login with MFA. No session ever persists across browser restarts.
🛡
Security Headers
Content Security Policy, HSTS, clickjacking protection, MIME sniffing prevention, and bot protection on all authentication endpoints.
🚫
No Browser Caching of Reports
The report input field is configured to prevent browsers and extensions from caching, autocorrecting, or spell-checking report content.
⚠️
CJIS Certification Pending
Do not submit NCIC, LEADS, or criminal history data. Report Shield is designed for officer-written narrative text only — what you personally observed and documented.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS.

Is Report Shield only for Illinois officers?
Currently yes. Report Shield is built around Illinois law with full ILCS statute integration throughout the charge recommendations, traffic citation tool, and statute lookup. Support for additional states is planned. If your state is a priority for you, reach out at support@reportshield.app.

Does Report Shield store my reports?

No. Report text is processed in real time and never written to any database or file. When your session ends, your report content is gone. This is a core design principle, not a marketing claim.

My department IT policy requires CJIS compliance. Can I still use Report Shield?

CJIS certification is currently pending. If your department IT policy requires full CJIS compliance before approving any tool, Report Shield is not yet eligible for formal department-issued procurement. However, officers may use Report Shield independently for officer-written narrative text, the same way an officer would use a personal grammar tool or legal reference. Report Shield is not connected to any criminal justice database, does not receive NCIC or LEADS data, and does not store report content in any Report Shield database. If your department requires documentation for individual use approval, contact support@reportshield.app.

Is this CJIS certified?

Not yet. CJIS certification is pending. Do not submit NCIC returns, LEADS data, criminal history records, or any data classified as Criminal Justice Information. Report Shield is designed for officer-written narrative text only. Additionally, under Anthropic's commercial API terms, submitted report content is never used to train AI models and is automatically deleted within 7 days. Your report text is processed solely to generate your analysis and nothing else.

Can I use this for supplemental reports?

Yes. Report Shield has a dedicated Supplemental mode that skips charge recommendations since those are already established in the original report.

Does Report Shield handle Use of Force reports?

Yes. Select Use of Force from the Incident Category dropdown. The analysis checks Graham v. Connor factors, proportionality of force to threat, documentation of subject actions prior to force, de-escalation attempts, injury notation, and force type identification. If body camera footage is available you can check a box and the tool will flag it in the report if not already documented. A dedicated Use of Force documentation checklist renders alongside the analysis.

What is the Traffic Citation Tool?

It is a standalone tool built into the app. Describe what you observed on a traffic stop and it identifies every applicable Illinois traffic violation with ILCS citations, fine amounts, offense class, primary vs secondary designation, and mandatory court appearance requirements. No report text needed — it works directly from your field observations.

What is the DUI Report Analysis tool?

A standalone tool specifically for Illinois DUI arrests. Paste your DUI narrative and select the substance type, chemical test status, whether an accident was involved, and CDL status. The tool analyzes your report against Illinois DUI documentation requirements — SFST administration and clue counts, implied consent advisement under 625 ILCS 5/11-501.1, IDOT-approved device documentation, PC narrative, transport and booking sequence, and more. It also lists every applicable ILCS charge with direct links to the statutes on ilga.gov.

What is the Statute Lookup tool?

Type any ILCS statute number or describe a crime in plain English and get a plain-language breakdown of every element the state must prove, the offense class, the penalty range, and a direct link to the statute on ilga.gov. Related statutes are listed as well.

What is the Court Prep Summary?

A standalone tool where you paste your approved report before testifying. It generates a structured preparation summary including a one-line case description, chronology, key facts to know, your critical personal observations, likely cross-examination questions with preparation notes, evidence to review, and cautions about weak areas. The summary is printable.

Who can use Report Shield?

Report Shield is restricted to active, sworn law enforcement personnel only. Users found not to be active law enforcement will have their access revoked without refund. This is a condition of access enforced at account approval.

What happens if the AI is wrong?

You are always the final reviewer. The approval checkbox before copying any output requires you to confirm you have read and verified the content. Report Shield is an assistant — you are the officer.
