A WEAK REPORT CAN
HURT A STRONG CASE

Officers know the report matters. A missing detail, unclear wording, weak probable cause, or opinion-based phrase can create real problems — in supervisor review, in court, and in your career.

📋

Supervisor Kickbacks

A report returned for revision means more time at the desk, more delay on the case, and a conversation you did not want to have. Catch the issue before it leaves your hands.

⚖️

Weak Probable Cause Language

What you meant and what you wrote are not always the same thing. Vague or subjective wording creates real problems when a prosecutor or judge reads your report.

🎯

Defense Attorney Ammunition

Opinion-based phrases, inconsistent timelines, and missing elements give the defense exactly what they need. Find the weak spots before they do.

USING AXON DRAFT ONE
OR ANOTHER AI WRITER?

Draft One writes the report from body camera audio. Report Shield reviews it before it goes anywhere. Those are two different jobs. Use both.

AXON DRAFT ONE
Writes the first draft from BWC audio. Fast. Requires Axon hardware and a department contract. Restricted to minor incidents by default.
REPORT SHIELD
Reviews the narrative for legal sufficiency, PC strength, objectivity, defense vulnerabilities, applicable charges, and courtroom readiness. $20/month with Full Access. Sign up today.

Draft One does not check probable cause. It does not flag opinion-based language. It does not run an incident-specific checklist against your state's statutory elements or Graham v. Connor. It does not tell you what a defense attorney will argue. Report Shield does. Copy the Draft One output and paste it here. Two minutes. Done.

Draft One and Axon are trademarks of Axon Enterprise, Inc. Report Shield is not affiliated with or endorsed by Axon.

12 MODES. EACH ONE
BUILT FOR THAT CALL.

Most AI tools treat every report the same. Report Shield does not. Each incident type loads a specialized preamble, incident-specific objectivity flags, and a hardcoded checklist tied to actual state statutes. A DUI/DWI report and a homicide report are not the same document. The tool knows that.

FROM AN OFFICER
WHO NEEDED IT MOST

I built Report Shield because I know what it feels like to finish a call, sit down at the computer, and wonder if the report is strong enough to survive supervisor review, court, and defense scrutiny. That anxiety is real. In small departments and solo shifts, there is not always someone to give you a second opinion before you hit submit.

Report writing is one of the most important skills in law enforcement and one of the least supported. Reports get returned. Cases get complicated. Officers already stretched thin have to start over. I wanted to build something that helps before it leaves your desk.

Security was non-negotiable from day one. Your report text is not stored in any Report Shield database. Processed, returned to your browser, gone. Standard infrastructure logs maintained by our hosting and AI providers may retain request metadata for limited periods — see our Privacy Policy for full details.

Built to be affordable. Built to be simple enough for the rookie and the veteran. Built by someone who has sat in the same seat.

"I cannot reshape policing alone, but I can put better tools in the hands of the officers willing to do the work."

BUILT WITH OFFICER
RESPONSIBILITY IN MIND

Report Shield is designed to assist with report review, not replace officer judgment, agency policy, supervisor approval, prosecutor review, or legal advice. Officers remain responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and legal sufficiency of every report.

WHAT REPORT SHIELD
ACTUALLY HELPS YOU DO

Catch unclear wording before supervisor review
Fix it on your terms, not after a kickback.
Strengthen probable cause articulation
Make sure what you meant is what you wrote.
Identify missing details before they matter
Spot gaps in the narrative before they become problems in court.
Remove opinion-based language
Replace subjective wording with factual, professional language.
Prepare for defense challenges
See your report from the other side before court does.
Improve courtroom confidence
Know your report is solid before you ever take the stand.
Review reports before they become permanent records
Once submitted, it is part of the case forever.

BUILT TO PROTECT
WHAT YOU WRITE

Law enforcement report content is sensitive. Report Shield was built from the ground up with security as non-negotiable.

Report Shield does not profile individuals, predict crime, or monitor anyone. The AI evaluates one thing only: the legal sufficiency, objectivity, and documentation quality of what you already wrote. No demographic data, no suspect characteristics, no surveillance data of any kind enters the analysis.

🔒
Zero Report Retention
Report text is processed in real time and never written to any Report Shield database, log, or file. When your session ends, it is gone from our side. Our AI processing provider retains request logs for up to 7 days under its standard commercial terms while a zero-retention agreement is finalized — see our Privacy Policy for details.
🔐
MFA on Every Login
Multi-factor authentication is mandatory for all accounts. Even if a password is compromised, no one gets in without the second factor.
Session Security
Sessions expire after 60 minutes of inactivity. Closing the browser clears the session completely. Reopening requires a full login with MFA.
🛡
Security Headers
Content Security Policy, HSTS, clickjacking protection, MIME sniffing prevention, and bot protection on all authentication endpoints.
🚫
No Browser Caching
The report input field is configured to prevent browsers and extensions from caching, autocorrecting, or spell-checking report content.
Not Subject to CJIS
Report Shield does not connect to NCIC, state law enforcement data systems, or any criminal history database. Because no Criminal Justice Information enters the platform, CJIS compliance requirements do not apply. Do not submit database-originated data — this tool is for officer-authored narrative text only.

Full technical detail on encryption, authentication, infrastructure, data handling, and retention is documented on our Security page and Privacy Policy.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS.
NO RUNAROUND.

Can I use Report Shield with Axon Draft One or another AI report writer?

Yes. That is exactly the workflow. Draft One writes the first version from body camera audio. Paste that draft into Report Shield and run the full analysis — PC strength, objectivity, defense vulnerabilities, Miranda check, applicable charges, and the incident checklist. Two different tools doing two different jobs.

Which states does Report Shield support?

Report Shield is built around each state's law, with full statute integration throughout the charge recommendations, traffic citation tool, statute lookup, and incident checklists. It is currently available in Illinois. Missouri, Indiana, and Kentucky are on the way. Select your state on the state picker to get started. If your state is a priority, reach out at support@reportshield.app.

What is the difference between Basic and Full Access?

Both are web subscriptions and both include the Report Shield mobile app at no additional charge. Basic ($10/month) covers the reference tools — statute lookup, traffic citation lookup, case law, amendment lookup, and the Officer Resource Center. Full Access ($20/month, or $110 for six months) adds everything built around your actual report narrative — full incident analysis, the 12 incident-specific modes and checklists, probable cause and defense challenge analysis, the Miranda checker, DUI/DWI analysis, professional rewrite, and court prep. See the plan comparison for a full breakdown. You can move between plans at any time from your billing portal.

Do I need a separate subscription for the mobile app?

No. The mobile app is a companion to your Report Shield web subscription and is included with both Basic and Full Access at no additional charge. There is nothing to purchase inside the app — you sign in with the same account you use on the web.

Does Report Shield store my reports?

No, not on our side. Report text is processed in real time and never written to any Report Shield database or file. When your session ends, your report content is gone from our systems. Our AI processing provider retains request logs for up to 7 days under its standard commercial terms, for abuse monitoring only, while we finalize a zero-retention agreement — see the Privacy Policy for full detail.

My department requires CJIS compliance. Does Report Shield require it?

No — and here is why. The FBI's CJIS Security Policy applies to systems that access, transmit, or store Criminal Justice Information (CJI), which is data originating from NCIC, state law enforcement data systems, criminal history repositories, and similar systems. Report Shield has no connection to any of those systems. Officers submit only their own written narratives — text they personally authored. Because no CJI enters the platform, CJIS does not apply. Do not submit NCIC results, state database records, or criminal history records. Contact support@reportshield.app if your department needs documentation of this determination.

What is the Miranda Checker?

A standalone tool that evaluates whether your report correctly documents Miranda — advisement, waiver, and invocation. Miranda documentation errors are one of the most common report failures. This tool specifically looks for those gaps.

Does Report Shield handle Use of Force reports?

Yes. Select Use of Force from the Incident Category dropdown. The analysis checks Graham v. Connor factors, proportionality of force to threat, documentation of subject actions prior to force, de-escalation attempts, injury notation, and body camera footage flagging. A dedicated 14-element UOF checklist renders alongside the analysis.

What is the DUI/DWI Report Analysis tool?

A standalone tool for DUI/DWI arrests. Paste your DUI/DWI narrative and select substance type, chemical test status, accident involvement, and CDL status. The tool analyzes your report against your state's DUI/DWI documentation requirements — SFST administration and clue counts, implied consent advisement, approved chemical-test device documentation, PC narrative, and transport and booking sequence. Lists every applicable charge with direct links to the official statutes.

What is the Court Prep Summary?

Paste your approved report before testifying. It generates a full preparation summary — case description, chronology, key facts to know, your critical personal observations, likely cross-examination questions with prep notes, evidence to review, and cautions about weak areas in the report. Printable.

What happens if the AI is wrong?

You are always the final reviewer. The approval checkbox before copying any output requires you to confirm you have read and verified the content. Report Shield is an assistant. You are the officer.
