Account Setup

You subscribed and received your invite email. Here is what happened.

After subscribing you received a branded Report Shield invite email. Clicking that link took you to the account creation page where you entered your name, agency, badge number, and password. Your account was automatically activated upon payment confirmation.

Already done. If you are reading this you have completed Step 1. Your account is active and you can sign in at reportshield.app

02

First Login and MFA Setup

Report Shield requires two-factor authentication on every account.

On your first login you will be prompted to set up an authenticator app. This is a one-time setup that takes about 2 minutes.

  1. Download an authenticator app on your phone — Google Authenticator, Authy, or your phone's built-in one
  2. Sign in with your email and password at reportshield.app
  3. A QR code will appear — scan it with your authenticator app
  4. Enter the 6-digit code from the app to confirm setup
  5. Every future login will ask for this 6-digit code after your password

Important: Save your authenticator app. If you get a new phone, you will need to re-enroll MFA. Contact support@reportshield.app if you are locked out.

03

Understanding the App

A quick tour of what each panel does.

The app has three main areas: the left sidebar for navigation, the center panel for report input, and the right panel for analysis output. Several sidebar tools hide the report input and replace it with their own workspace.

🎯 Objectivity

Scores your report 0-100 for objectivity. Flags subjective language and opinion-based statements.

🛡️ Defense Challenge

Identifies weaknesses defense attorneys could exploit. Rated Low, Medium, or High risk.

⚖️ Legal Review

Reviews your report for legal gaps. Rated Solid, Needs Work, or Significant Gaps.

📚 Charges

Recommends applicable Illinois charges with full ILCS citations. For official reports only.

🕐 Timeline

Extracts a clean chronological timeline of events from your narrative.

✍️ Final Report

Professional rewrite of your report. Requires your review and approval before copying.

📋 Summary

Plain-English 3-5 sentence summary of the incident for quick reference.

⭐ PC Strength

Checks each statutory element of the charge against your narrative. Green/orange/red by element.

🚩 Supervisor Flag

Auto-generates a professional supervisor memo summarizing key issues. Editable before printing.

🚦 Traffic Law

Standalone tool. Describe your traffic stop observations and get every applicable Illinois violation with ILCS citations, fines, and court appearance requirements.

🔎 Statute Lookup

Enter any ILCS statute or plain-English crime description. Get elements the state must prove, offense class, penalty range, and a link to the statute.

📋 Court Prep

Paste your approved report before testifying. Generates a structured prep summary — chronology, key facts, likely cross-examination questions, and cautions. Printable.

🔍 Judici Search

Search Illinois court records by county directly from the app.

Specialized incident modes: When analyzing Use of Force, Sexual Assault, or Domestic Violence reports, select the correct Incident Category before running the analysis. Each mode applies specialized rules and checklists specific to that type of report.

04

Running Your First Analysis

What to paste, what not to paste, and how to get the best results.

CRITICAL — Read before your first analysis: Do not paste NCIC returns, LEADS query results, criminal history records, rap sheets, or any data from a law enforcement database. Report Shield is for your written narrative observations only. CJIS certification is pending.

✓ DO PASTE

  • Your written narrative of what you observed
  • Witness and victim statements you documented
  • Your description of physical evidence
  • Your documentation of the arrest process
  • Supplemental narratives you authored

✗ DO NOT PASTE

  • NCIC or LEADS query results
  • Criminal history records
  • Rap sheets or prior arrest data
  • Biometric data of any kind
  • Information from law enforcement databases

Step by step:

  1. Enter your case number in the Case Number field (optional but recommended)
  2. Select Official Report or Supplemental
  3. Select the Incident Category that best matches your report
  4. Paste your report narrative into the Report Text box
  5. Click Analyze Report
  6. Wait 15-30 seconds for the full analysis to complete

Best results tip: The more complete your narrative, the better the analysis. A full draft with all facts gives the AI more to work with than bullet points or partial notes.

05

Using the Output Responsibly

The most important step — your review and approval.

After analysis, navigate through the panels using the sidebar. Start with Objectivity and work through each panel. When you are ready to use the final rewritten report:

  1. Click Final Report in the sidebar
  2. Read the full rewritten report carefully from start to finish
  3. Verify every fact is accurate and complete
  4. Check the approval box confirming you have read and verified the content
  5. Click Copy to Clipboard — the disclosure footer is automatically included
  6. Paste into your RMS or report system

You are always responsible. Checking the approval box means you have personally verified the content. If anything in the rewrite does not match your recollection of events, correct it before submitting. Never submit output you have not read and verified.

Pre-submission checklist:

You are ready to go.

Start with a report you have already submitted so you can see how the analysis compares to your own review. Any questions — we are one email away.
